CC/E FFA IRFA Award

The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association awarded a $2,500 grant to Clay Central-Everly Community School through its Biodiesel Backer Award Program. To be eligible for one of the two available Biodiesel Backer Awards, Iowa K-12 schools were required to educate their students and communities about biodiesel and incorporate biodiesel into their school programming. The winners were then selected based on a competitive application process.

Staff Spotlight - Jackie Woodall

I was born in LeMars, Iowa, but moved to Spencer at the age of two. I am the baby and only girl, this fact left me hated by my two older brothers, but as time goes they are slowly getting over it. I graduated from Spencer High School in 1993. From there I attended the University of South Dakota and then transferred to Buena Vista University where I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education and a Special Education Endorsement. I have been teaching at Clay Central Everly for five years, first as an Associate in the Resource Room and now as a Special Education teacher. I was presented with an opportunity this year to co-teach in the Algebra room alongside Ms. Van Voorst . This has been such a wonderful learning experience for me and the students here at Clay Central, and it also gives me the privilege of getting to know and work with more of the great students we have here at CCE.

My husband’s name is James “Bo” Woodall. He is a driver for UPS. We have two girls, Payton (10yrs.) and Kaiden (5yrs.). My children attend Sacred Heart in Spencer, Payton is in the 4th grade and Kaiden is in Kindergarten. We live on an acreage outside of Spencer, this was needed to accommodate the passion of my husband and my two girls, horses. My husband competes in “Chuckwagon Races”, he drives the wagon for his team the “Black D”. This very expensive and very dangerous hobby is shared by my children (which they will do over my dead body), but forces me to spend my summer traveling to races all over Iowa. My passion however is softball! My husband and I play on a co-ed team on Friday nights and our team also plays in many tournaments on the weekends. I also play on a women’s traveling team.

My greatest reward in life are my two children. I love having my summers off to dedicate to them. We take our summer vacation to Green Bay, where my parents and oldest brother live; they love going to the zoo, water parks and playing with their cousins. (GO BEARS! NOT PACKERS!) We also spend most of our summer in Gillett Grove, a short four wheeling ride (on our new Prowler ATV) from our acreage to their other grandma’s house. She has a big pool and mini ponies so my kids never want to leave there. Most importantly, I am also the official starter when my girls race their ponies up and down our lane. This was the job they gave me because they say I am too scared to ride horses; they don’t think I am cowgirl material.
