Help With Homework—Study Buddy
It doesn’t take parents long to learn that education has changed significantly over a generation. Not only have things changed but many things are forgotten over 20 years time. When children ask questions, how can parents help them find information without leaving home?
AOL has launched a new website with hopes of being the #1 site on the internet for homework help. StudyBuddy.com is a new search engine that is receiving very high marks for helping students with homework. It became active in August of 2006 just in time for the new school year. Many links were selected by classroom teachers. AOL has taken scattered information and transformed it into one, organized site.
How does it work? Students or parents select a topic and grade level and are quickly on their way to finding information. StudyBuddy sorts the information making sure it is appropriate for the age of the student. The levels are K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12. Subject areas are math, language arts, social studies, health, science and electives. The site will note recent searches if you want to return to the site you visited yesterday. There are also other links available for on-line tutoring.
AOL is hoping that this becomes the first place students go for information. Students can either go to www.studybuddy.com or homework-help.aol.com. Either address takes them to this site. WebMD is the place to go for medical information and StudyBuddy wants to be the same in education.
