Absolutely Normal Chaos by Sharron Creech  RL 4.7  P 7.0 This fiction book
has a language teacher that assigns the class to write in their journals
everyday for the summer!  Mary Lou does, but she has a problem.  Read it to
find out what it is.  I thought this book was very good because it was
really easy to get into.  Melanie Nemmers 
 
Mary Lou has to keep a journal over the summer.  She writes about her personal
life with her new boyfriend. Her cousin gets money from someone he doesn't know.  
This book is great for teens because it deals with romance between people.

Afternoon of the Elves by Janet Taylor Lisle   RL 4.5  P 3.0  Hillary has
found an elf village in her neighbors yard!  This is a mystery book.  I
thought it was going to be funny.   Brianna Laubenthal

Alice the Brave by Phyllis Reynolds RL 6  P  5.0  This book is about how
Alice overcomes her fears.  I thought it was really good and interesting.

April's Fool by Jamie Suzanne RL 4.3  P 3  The girls always trade places.
This year they do something different.  They fool everyone.  It was sort of
funny when they play their trick.  Tana Full

All Things Bright and Beautiful by James Herriot  RL 6.7  P 23  A vet tells
of his hard times in his hometown.  This story is well-connected to all his
journeys on the job.  I recommend this to higher level readers because it's
kind of hard to follow.  Whitney Thorne

Among the Hidden by Margaret Peterson Haddix  RL 4.8  P 5.0  This book is
about a boy who is a "shadow child" and isn't allowed to go outside.  I
thought it was good, but also sad.  John Cross

Amy's Penpal  by Jamie Suzanne RL 4  P 3  Amy's penpal comes on a weekend
that is full of excitement and trouble.  It is a great "friend" story.  Tana

Bad Dreams by R.L. Stine  RL 4.5  P 4  Maggie has dreams about a girl who
gets killed in their new house.  This was a mystery - an excellent book.

The Betrayal by R.L. Stine  RL 4.5  P 4.0 This story is about two families:
The Goode's and the Fier's and how they try to get revenge on each other.
It was exciting and interesting.  Becky Payne

Big League Break by Mark Freeman  RL 4.7 P 5.0  Big League Breakis about
three kids from the same high school.  They play on the same team in AAA
baseball.  Then they all make the majors at the same time.  This book is a
great fun-filled book about baseball.  If you like baseball, I suggest you
read this book.  Allister Sindt

Big Red by Jim Kjelgaard  RL 5.6 P 9  This book is about a boy and a dog he
teachers to hunt.  It was a great story about a boy and dog who love each

The Black Stallion Returns by Walter Farley  RL 6.1  P 8.0  This book is
about a boy who travels halfway across the world to find the horse he loves
so much.  I would recommend this for anyone who likes adventrue.  It is a
terrific book.  Kim Seavert

The Cay by Theodore Taylor RL 7 P 8  A boy and a man are stranded on an
island.  They hope someone will find them.  I thought it was an interesting
story. The things they learned from each other were grand.  Kala Frank

Chasing the Wind by Robert Elmer RL 5.2 P 8.0  If you like books about the
war, this would be a good book for you.  Teenagers Peter, Elise, and Henrik
are spies and they are trying to spy on the Nazis to see what they are up
to.  It is a good book because it's about spies and WW II.  Beth Johnson

The Cheater by R.L. Stine RL 3.8  P 4   Carter needs to score a 700 on a
test to get into college, so she has a boy take it for her in return for a
date.  It gets out of hand as he takes control of her. Whatever he says -
she has to do or he will tell her secret.  It is really interesting.  Just
when you think that everyone is out of trouble and everything is starting to
be good, a new twist is added to the story.  Abbey Biedenfeld

A Child Called "It" by Dave Pelzer  RL 5.0  P 3.0  A young child abused by
his often drunk mom.  He struggles to survive.  Read the book to find out if
he lives.  I thought that it was an excellent book because it shows that
there are worse lives than our own.  Whitney Huss 
 
This book is about a boy whose life is almost perfect; then his mother ruins it 
when she starts to drink.  I would recommend this book for anyone because it

This book is a sad story about a child that is abused by
his mother.  He has a very happy life until his mother starts to drink.  I
would recommend this book because it is a real life story. Emily Bates This
is a true story about a boy who is getting abused by his mother.  I think it

Learn how a young boy survived the first years of his life with a mother who 
abuses him.  Find out how he got food and what his mother did to him.  I loved 
A Child Called It. It is very sad, but shows how he survived through the years

This book is about a boy who was abused by his mother and survived.  It is a story that we 
can learn a lesson with and is a very good book. Miranda Konrady  
 
This book is about a boy that was tortured by his abusive mother until he was in 6th grade.
 It was a good story but kind of depressing. Mike Grubb 
 
A little kid leads an abusive life, and struggles to fight sometimes for his life.  
He's deprived of food, love, and much more. His abusive mother is cruel and treats 
him like a nobody.  It was an excellent story, but I felt it was sad too, because s
ome of the things his mother did to him was so cruel.  Michelle Munden 
 
The story of a child who is brutally abused by his mother, but will not give in to
death, no matter what!  This book was so gripping, I could not put it down.
The suspense, fear, anger, and sadness kept me glued. Josh Langner
          
 
Christy Miller Series by Robin Jones Gunn  Christy, a 14 year old girl,
becoming a Christian, starts a long-term relationship with Todd, and moves
to a new town.  Facing many emotional problems, but keeping her faith in
Christ steady, trusts in Him.  VERY Good!  It is very encouraging, exciting,
and includes real-life situations that you will face Martha Thomas

Danger Zone by David Klass RL 5.2 P 9  Jimmy Doyle gets asked to play on the
USA team for basketball.  They go to Italy to play and they get a death
threat on them.  Some of the players leave.  I thought the story was cool!
I like basketball, so that's why I like it.  Ben Harris Jimmy Doyle is
selected to go to the Teen Dream Team in Italy.  He goes and is threatened
by terrorists.  They say they will kill him.  What will he do?  Excellent;
very exciting and it keeps you interested in the story for the entire book.
Colton Meyer When Jimmy Doyle is asked to play on a basketball team for USA,
he has to learn to deal with racism both on and off the court.  This is an
awesome book that keeps the reader interested.  I advise people to read
Danger Zone.  Thomas Jessen

Daughters of Eve by Lois Duncan RL 5.4  P 10  A girl is finally accepted
into a club called Daughters of Eve, consisting of an English teacher and
about nine other popular seniors. I would highly recommend this hair-raising story 
that is filled with adventure. Shanda Klett

A Day No Pigs Would Die by Robert Newton Peck:  RL 4.4  P 4.0  A
coming-of-age story focusing on the harsh realities of a poor farming
family, as seen through the eyes of young Rob Haven.  While it had some very
humorous parts, I was often saddened by the grim realities.  Well-written,
but too dramatic for me.  Mrs. Heerdt

The Dead Girlfriend by R.L. Stine  RL 4.7  P 4   Jonathon's girlfriend was
pushed over the falls and killed.  Jonathon started to like Annie.  Someone
was trying to scare Annie away from Jonathon.  I liked the book because it
was hard to put down. Austin Full

Don't Scream by Joan Lowery Nixon  RL 4.8  P 6   When two new guys start at
Jess's high school, she thinks the year is really looking up.  What she
can't know is that there is a connection between them.  One has been given a
new identity by the government.  The other is seeking revenge.  Jess doesn't
know whom she can trust, or who will be the next victim.  This is a very
adventurous story and you don't want to stop reading it. Jenah Muhlbaurer

The Ear, the Eye, and the Arm by Nancy Farmer  RL 4.7 P 12  Three kids from
a high crime-fighting, over-protective father venture out and get captured.
One of the detectives looking for them can hear very well, one can see very
well, and the last one has long arms and can read minds.  This was a great
adventure-filled book.  I recommend reading it.  Brittany Montgomery A
science fiction book where three kids go on an adventure and go through all
sorts of obstacles.  Three detectives help find them.  This story will
probably be very popular in the future.  Marshall Russell

Eye on Crime by Christopher Pike RL 4.9 P 4  This book deals with revenge at
the beginning, and ends with a very courageous case.  I liked it alot.  It
has tons of action.  You should read it if you like action.  Rick Handy

Fallen Angels by Walter Dean Myers RL 7.1  P 11  A guy named Perry joined
the Vietnam War.  He struggles as he watches his friends die. There is a lot
of swearing in this book, but it is still a great book. Josh Olin A guy
named Perry goes to Vietnam to fight.  While he's there, he gets trapped in
a battle and gets wounded before going home.  This was very realistic about
what might happen in Vietnam.  Jared Elbert
          

The Fear Place by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor:  RL 5.4  P 5.0  It was an action
story involving a couger at a campsite.  Mom and Dad leave.  What happens?
It was filled with action and scary moments in the story to stop your heart!

Followship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien  RL 6.1  P 29  In this fantasy, a
group of hobbits, dwarves, elves, and men set out on a journey to the center
of the dark kingdom - Mordor - to destroy the evil Ring of the Dark Lord
Sauron.  If you like fantasy, this is the book for you.  I liked this book
and it is part of the series Lord of the Rings.  Kevin Clark

The Fire by Caroline B. Cooney RL 4.5 P 6.0  A girl named Christina is
living with the Sheuvingtons.  The Sheuvingtons are trying to destroy
Christina, but nobody believes her.  Finally they start believing her.  I
thought it was a really good story and it is a book that you never want to
put down.  Emily Geerdes

Greater Than Angels by Carol Matas  RL 4.3  P 5  The story takes place in
Germany during WW II.  It's about a 15 year old Jewish girl and what happens
in a concentration camp.  It was a very good book and easy to read.  Amanda

Halfback Tough by Thomas J. Dygard RL 7.2  P  7  A high schooler boy named
Joe Atkins moves to a town called Graham.  He joins the football team,
knowing he doesn't really want to.  I would recommend this book to a person
that likes sports.  I thought it was great. Rick Bloom  A high school
student is considered an outsider at his old school.  He moves to a new
school and becomes a successful football star.  I really liked this book
because it shows how you don't have to be in the "in" crowd to be a good
football player.  Steve Virelli

Harris and Me by Gary Paulson: RL 5.7  P 5.0  This is about a boy who is
staying with relatives through the summer.  It tells about his experiences
living on a farm. I thought it was excellent because it is really
interesting to find out how people lived 40 years ago. KaeLyn Heikens A boy
goes to live with his cousin and they get in a lot of trouble and
adventures.  It was a great story and I like one adventure
especially. Tana Full

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire  by J.K. Rowling:  RL 6.8 P 32  Harry is
at Hogwarts for his fourth year when he finds out about the Triwizard
Tournament.  He is mysteriously entered, but what obstacles will he face?
This is an adventurous story with non-stop action.  Donny Smith   Harry
Potter is illegally entered in a tournament.  I thought this was a good book
with lots of surprises.  Hannah Tostenrud  Harry Potter is the 4th champion
of the Triwizard Cup.  He encounters obstacles with the three tasks and Lord
Voldermont.  This is a great book full of action and fun.  Jake Schoelerman
Harry gets into a tournament and has to face some dangerous challenges.  Can
he win the tournament and stay alive?  I couldn't stop reading.  I think the
Harry Potter books are fun to read.  Cole Hickey A 13 year old boy, who
enters a contest in a school for witchcraft and wizardy.  An excellent book
for the imaginative mind!  Chris Stickler Harry goes to Hogwarts school of
Witchcraft and Wizardry for his fourth year.  The Triwizard Tournament is
the big event that year between three school champions to earn the Triwizard
trophy. This story was incredible; it had lots of interesting events and it
was very adventurous. Joshua Cline  A Triwizard Tournament takes place at
Hogwart's in Harry's fourth year.  I think this story is good.  Mike Weber

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling:  RL 6.7 P 18  This
book is about a kid named Harry Potter.  He finds out that the person he was
told killed his parents really didn't.  This is an excellent book for kids
who like adventure and excitement.  Joe Otto Sirius Black escaped from the
Prison of Azbaban, which is a magic prison.  He is going to try to kill
someone at Hogwarts and everyone thinks it's Harry.  Awesome!  Drew Kathman
Harry goes back in time to help someone and something.  Harry finds out that
just maybe he's not alone.  This is a story that you will never forget.
Harry takes you on another outstanding adventure. Chelsea Boernsen
          

Hickory, Dickory, Death by Agatha Christie  RL 6.7 P 9  Small objects are
stolen from a  youth Hostel.  This leads to murder.  It had good characters
and was suspenseful.  It was hard to guess the murderer.  Ryan Goeken

The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien  RL 6.6  P 16  This book is about a hobbit, 13
dwarves, and a wizard that goes on an adventure in search of a dragon who
has stolen their treasure.  As you read you will see all the complications
they run into.  I think it is a great book.  If you like adventures, you
have to read it!  Brooke Blair This is a fantasy book.  It is about a hobbit
who goes on a great adventure.  His adventure included battleing a fierce
dragon and crossing a deep, dark forest.  I strongly recommend this book for
those who like fantasy.  It is a great book that lets your imagination run
wild. Clarissa Thiessen

Holes by Louis Sachar  RL 4.6  P 7  There is a boy who is getting in trouble
and has to go to a camp where they dig holes.  I thought the story was great
because there are two stories going on at once.  Dustin Myers A boy is
falsely caught with stolen shoes;  then sent to the camp where his
great-grandfather had buried treasure.  The story was very funny and had
many adventures.  I really loved this book.  I couldn't put it down!  Kayla

Horror at the Haunted House by Peg Kehret  RL 5.2  P 5.0  This book is about
a girl who stumbles upon a ghost while helping with a haunted house
fundraiser.  She is "burned at the stake" in the haunted house,but is almost
killed for real.  I thought this was a great story that keeps you wondering
what's going to happen next.  Euvonne Sheridan

Ice by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor RL 5.3  P 8   This book is about a girl who
goes to live with her grandma for a year and decides to find out more about
her father.  She doesn't know she's in for an adventure.  I really like this
book.  I think it's very adventurous.  I wonder if there is a sequel. Linda
Momsen A young girl named Chrissa moves to her grandmother's house because
her father left her when she was young and she doesn't get along with her
mother.  A very interesting story with lots of things happening at one time.
I enjoyed reading it.  Kyle Thomsen
          

I Hadn't Meant to Tell You This by Jacqueline Woodson  RL 5.0 P 3  It is a
book about two girls; one is black, one is white.  The white girl moves into
a town and goes to school in an all black kids school.  She gets a best
friend and makes it.  I think it is a good book for people to read, because
you learn a lot.  Amanda Hansen

Island Dreamer by Robin Jones Gunn  RL 5.1  P 7  Christy's friend, Paula,
flys in from Wisconsin to visit for a few weeks.  Aunt Marti has a surprise
for Christy.  It was very exciting and surprising in most parts of the
story.  Chelsey Bohr

I Want To Live by Lurlene McDaniel  RL 4.4 P 3.0  It's about a 14 year old
girl who is in remission from cancer.  It's sad but inspiring.  ChelseyBohr

The Knife by R.L. Stine RL 4.5  P 4  A teenage girl that gets into a lot of
different accidents and suffers the consequences.  Someone is after her and
trying to kill both her and her aunt.  An excellent story:  action-packed
and grabbed you right away.  Kevin Maurer

The Last Battle by C.S. Lewis  RL 5.6 P 7.0  This is the end of Narnia
forever.  Or is it?  A false Aslan turns Narnia into total chaos, so Peter
and the friends of Narnia are forced to return and face the surprises that
await.  I loved this book, as it is full of suspense and surprises.  The
only downfall of this book is that the series of Narnia had to end so
abruptly and it left me with so many questions.  Josh Langner

The Legend of Luke by Brian Jacques RL 5.7 P 16  This is a fantasy book out
of the series of Redwall.  Martin of Redwall sets out on a quest to find the
truth of what happened to his father.  With his companions; Trimp, Gonf, and
Denno, they face many dangers and gain many followers as they seek truth.
Thisi s an excellent fantasy, yet difficult to understand the dialect at

A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett  RL 6  P 11  A rich, motherless
girl from India has been brought to an all-girl boarding school in England.
When her father dies, she has everything taken away and has to work.  It is
good - very interesting.  It will keep you reading.  Marlana Muckey

The Long Patrol by Brian Jacques RL 6.0  P 16  This is an adventure book in
which young Tammo runs away to join the Long Patrol.  This is an excellent
story because it is scary, sad, humorous, and it has some romance.  Kyle

Lord of the Flies by William Golding: RL 5.0  P 9.0  A plane crash leaves
several young boys stranded on a jungle island.  They must develop a system
of rule as they attempt to survive and wait for rescue.  The struggle for
control escalates into a rivoting nightmare adventure. Although it was hard
to put down, I found the ending depressing & pessimistic. Mrs. Heerdt A
group of kids are stranded on an island from a freak plane crash.  How will
the group keep order and survive on the island as they wait for resuce?
When I started reading this book, I could never put it down.  I found it
exciting and well-written.  Calvin ThiessenA plane crashes on an island.
The kids on it are forced to live alone.  It was a very good book.  I

The Lost Boy by Dave Pelzer  RL 5  P 3   This book is a true story about a
foster child searching for the love of a family.  If you liked A Child
Called It, then you will like this book.  I liked the book.  Amanda Holtz
A foster child struggles with his new changes, surrounding and most of all
the new prejudice against foster children.  This story was really touching,
but it was sad at parts.  Sometimes the conflicts were not completely told.

The Lottery Winner by Mary Higgins Clark  RL 5.6  P 11  This story is about
one main character that is retired, but still enjoys solving mysteries.  The
story is very good because it's full of mysteries.  Anyone who enjoys
mysteries would like it.  Lenah Woodall Thisbook is a mystery.  Alvira
Meehan and her husband, Willy, dig into crime-solving on a grand scale and
try to find the jewel thief.  This is a book you can't put down.  I think it
was adventurous and slightly humorous. Lee Christensen  A bunch of short
stories about a lady who won the lottery and retired from being a maid; she
now solves mysteries.  It is a very good book. Natalie Nielsen

Mademoiselle Jessica by Jamie Suzanne RL 4.2  P 4.0  Jessica Wakefield
writes about her family for a contest just for fun.  It's not supposed to be
mailed.  Her sister mails it and they become finalists.  I'd recommend this
book if you like books that make you wonder what's going to happen to a
character in trouble. Kelsey Keefer

A Man Named Dave by Dave Pelzer  RL 5 P 3  This book is about a guy that got
abused by his mom when he was a kid, and now he is an adult and how he gets
a job and meets people.  At the middle of the book, he confronts his mom and
asks her why she abused him.  I liked how it was written and how it was
exciting in some parts.  What I didn't like is that is has some swear words
in it.  Matt Manning

The Man Who Loved Clowns by June Wood  RL 5.1  P 7  There was a guy that had
Downs Syndrome.  Read about the family who loved him.  It was very exciting
in spots, but the end was very sad.  Ryan Nemmers  A man has Downs Syndrome.
His niece struggles with making friends and letting "Punky" go in the
direction he needs.  A touching story -hard to put down.  Also, there is a
sequel called Turtle On a Fencepost.   Teresa Becker

Marlfox by Brain Jacques  RL 5.7  P 17  The once peaceful Redwall is
threatened by the devious Marlfoxes.  When the tapestry is stolen, war
breaks out, and four chieftans go forth to return the tapestry.  This story
is really awesome.  This is a fantasy/thriller that you can't put down. Josh

Martin the Warrior by Brian Jacques RL 5.5 P 14  A story about Martin's
childhood as he's on an adventure to reclaim his father's sword that was
stolen from him by an evil stoat; he meets new friends that help along the
way.  But Martin's best friend was lost in the Battle of Marshank.
Excellent; very detailed.  I advise people to read this book!  Thomas Jessen

Missing May by Cynthia Ryland  RL 5.3  P 3  This book is about a young girl
who lives with her uncle.  Her aunt has died and they must deal with their
grief.  It was  very good, but sad story.  Tana Full

Mixed Signals by Carolyn Keene  RL 5.2 P 4   Nancy Drew goes to visit her
boyfriend at Emerson College.  While she's there, the starting quarterback
is taken off the team for bad grades and the second liner is being
threatened.  I enjoyed the book, because I like mystery books.  Allie
McCarty 

Moccasin Trail by Eloise McGraw 5.8 P 12  Young Jim Keath runs away from
home to trap with his uncle and travels across America and finds his family
in Oregon.  Great! Dan Thompson

Mrs. Mike by Benedict Freedman RL 5.3  P  16  A nonfiction romance that
shows the value of love and family.  Illustrated through a city girl who
moves up north and marries a bounty.  This was a great novel that almost
hurt to turn the last page.  Amalie Galm

Murdered My Sweet by Joan Lowery Nixon:  RL 4.6  P 6.0  This is a mystery
novel about a young 15 year-old girl named Jenny.  Her mom is a famous
mystery author.  Two men are killed.  Jenny's mom tries to figure out the
exciting mystery.  I'm hoping you'll read this book because it is an
exciting mystery for all of J.L.N.'s fans, and even if you're not!  Start
now!  Tonia Tessum 

No Place to Hide by Francine Pascal RL 5.7 P 5  Adam Maitland, Steven's
friend from college, is accused of murder.  Chelsey Bohr
          
The Older Boy by Jamie Suzanne  RL 4.4 P 3.0  A boy likes Jessica, and she
sneaks out of the house to go to a place where she meets trouble.  If you
like Sweet Valley Twins books, you'll like this one.  Tana Full Jessica
Wakefield meets a cute Junior, Josh.  Then they wind up on a double date
with Jessica's brother.  The story was very exciting although it could've
had a better ending.  Lacey Sether

On the Devil's Court by Carl Deaker RL 4.9  P 9  A kid sells his soul to the
devil so he can be awesome on the basketball court.  It was a good story.
It was kind of different.  Tim Hamrick

Panther in the Sky by James Alexander Thom  RL 6.9  P 50 Turtle Muthe gave
birth to a Shawnee baby.  He was born under a god sign and named Tecumseh.
It was a good book, but hard to understand.  Adam Jensen

The Pigman by Paul Zindel:Two rebellious teenagers play a phone prank on an
elderly gentleman.  The prank leads to a surprising relationship with Mr.
Pignati and an awakening to their private problems and responsibilities.  I
liked the format of this book, as narrated in alternating chapters by the
two main characters.  Realistic, but sad in many ways.  Mrs. Heerdt

Poppy and Rye by Avi RL 4.3 P 5.0  After Ragweed died, Poppy is going west
to tell his family the sad news.  She meets Rye and falls in love.  This is
a fantasy tale set in the animal world, full of adventures.  Tasha Tunink

Puppies, Dogs, and Blue Northers by Gary Paulsen  RL 6.0  P 2.0  This book
is about Gary Paulsen's love for his sledding dogs.  A great book that
everyone will love and enjoy.  Amber Dahlman

A Race to Dream by Deborah Savage RL 5.4  P  12  Theo would do almost
anything to race the fasted horse, even if it meant she had to be a boy.
She faced hardships with her father because of his health.  It was a great
story.  Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down.  Jennifer Parsons
          

The Return of the King by J.R.R. Tolkien  RL 6.2  P 22   A tale about the
heritage of Bilbo Baggins and the troubles that come to the family.  It's
about sorcerers gone bad, and the destruction of Souron, a powerful wizard,
and of the evil ring.  An adventurous story that sometimes gets confusing
because of all the names; but all the same, very hard to put down.  Chandra
Jones  

Rookies Spring Training by Mark Freeman  RL 3.8 P 4.0  This story is about
three guys that start training with the majors.  All three character's
stories go on at the same time.  This is book #4 out of the series.  I
really liked this story because it had a lot of action in it.  You would
like it if you like sports.  Clayton Noll

Running Out of Time by Magret Peterson Haddix:  RL 4.8  P  7.0  This book is
about a girl that lives in the 1800's and finds out that it is really 1996.
She has to go into the real world and get medicine for her mother.  A great
book because she has no idea what radios, cars, or other modern day
technolgy are. Sarah McCarty

Say Goodnight Gracie by Julie Reece Deaver  RL 3.8 P 6.0  This is a book
about a girl and a guy that have a good relationship.  In the middle of the
story, the boy is in an accident and the girl has a hard time getting over
it.  If you like sad stories, you'll like this book. Brittany Tuttle

Roberto in the World Series.  The story was very good and descriptive. Seth

Seventeen Wishes by Robin Jones Gunn  Rl 5.3  P 6  Working as a camp
counselor is not exactly how Christy thought her summer would be.  I thought
this book was humerous and exciting.   Chelsey Bohr

Shadowmaker by Joan Lowery Nixon  RL 5.9  P  8  Katie Gillian and her mother
move from Houston to a small town where her mother is going to write a
novel, but people don't like them there, so they find people lurking outside
their house at night and breaking into their house.  Filled with action.

Silent Storm by Sherry Garland RL 5.5  P 9  Alssya was in a boat sinking
with her parents and they died and she lived.  She lives with her
grandfather in a shack on Galveston Island.  There is a big storm coming.
She decides to run away.  I thought the story was excellent.  It was sad,
but had adventure.  Megan Hegwer

Sing Down the Moon  by Scott O'Dell  RL 4.9  AR 4  Two young girls get
caught by some Spanish people and are taken to be servants.  It was a good
book that sort of has past and present in it.  Tana Full

Someone Like You by Sarah Dessen RL 5.1  P 10.0  This book is a biography
and a romance written in first person.  It is about a girl whose best friend
gets pregnant and finds what she thinks is her first love.  I loved the
book.  I like the first person point-of-view. Lori Andrews

Summer of My German Soldier by Bette Greene RL 5.2  P 9  When Patty Bergen's
small hometown in Arkansas becomes the site of a camp housing German
prisoners during WW II, Patty learns what it means to open her heart.  Even
though she's Jewish, she begins to see a prison escapee, Anton, not as a
Nazi, but as a lonely, frightened young man with feelings not unlike her
own, who understands and appreciates her in a way her parents never will.  A
very interesting book that teaches you a lot about WW II. Jenah Muhlbauer

Summer of the Monkeys by Wilson Rawls  RL 4.8  P 13  A boy finds out that
there are monkeys and he goes and has a lot of adventures.  It was a GREAT
story and a funny one too!  Tana Full

Tangerine by Edward Bloor RL 4.3  P  13  A boy who moves to a new town and
has a vision disablility.  He finds out about how he got his vision
disability.  It was very good.  I highly recommend it!  I liked how he found
his way in a new town.  Kim Thompson This book is about a kid who moves to
Florida.  His dad is obsessed by his brothers football kicking dream.  It
was really strange.  It had a satisfying ending, with rough times in the

Team Work by Jamie Suzanne  RL 3.7 P 3  Three friends start a business so
they can go visit their aunt.  They start a dog-walking business.  Read to
find out what happens.  It was a great book!  Tana Full

There's a Tarantula in My Homework by Jean Craighead George  This book is a
fictional book about Micah.  His class has a spider.  They name him Hairy.
Hairy gets to spend the weekend at Micah's house.  I think it is a good book
for people 10 years old and over.  Tyler Kruse
          

There's an Owl in the Shower by Jean Craighead George:  RL 4.3  P  3.0  This
book is about an owl that is almost extinct.  Some kids help take care of
one.  It's a good book.  I think everyone should read it.  Matt Trierweiler

Tiger Eyes by Judy Blume  RL 4.1  P 6.0  This is a touching book.  The
family's dad dies and they have to learn to deal with it.  I thought the
story was very good because I like how I didn't know what was going to

Transall Saga by Gary Paulson  RL 5.9  P 9  What started out as a camping
trip turned into an adventure of a lifetime for Mark as he uncovers what
brought earth down in the future.  I liked this book because of the very
creative storyline and the action.  Mike Bonine

The Twins Little Sister by Jamie Suzanne  RL 3.9  P 3.0  Jessica and
Elizabeth Wakefield are twins and have always wanted a little sister but
when their neighbors go on vacation, the twins have to babysit their
neighbor's children.  I recommend this book because if you like a book about
girls and series-type books, you'll enjoy this.  Holly Walton

Where are the Children? by Mary Higgins Clark  RL 5.3  P 8  This is a
mystery story, where a lady has been previously accused of killing her young
children.  Years later, when she has remarried and has two new children,
they disappear and she's the main suspect.  This story is very well-written
and will keep you guessing until the last page. Betsy Brugman  This book was
very suspenseful, and kept you wondering until the end.  I liked this book;
it is a very well-written mystery. Tyler Cronk

White Fang by Jack London  RL 7.7 P 19  This is an adventurous story about a
wolf who grows up to be a great wolf leader.  It is a good book if you like
adventures. Adam Phelps

The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare  RL 5.7  P 9  A young
girl moves from Barbados to Conneticut.  She rescues a child's doll that has
fallen overboard.  People think she's a witch because she can swim.  She
makes new friends and has a scary adventure in the end.  It was a great
story and one that has a lot of characters in it.  Tana Full

The Wreckers by Iain Lawrence: RL 4.2 P 6.0  This book is about a boy trying
to survive on an island.  He is trying to find his father after the
shirpwreck.  It is full of twists.  I thought it was excellent. Mike Pearson

Wringer by Jerry Spinelli:  RL  4.5  P  5  This book is about a kid who is
new in town and he makes new friends.  They want him to be a "wringer" but
he did not want to harm pigeons.  I thought it was a good book. Cody Holtz

A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle RL 4.7  P 7.0  When Meg gets curious
about where her father went, she gets a visit by three old ladies who know
where he is.  They take Meg and her brother to another world.  When they get
back home, it is minutes before they left!  I thought it was a terrific book
because I like science fiction books.  Magan Mason

Wrong Number by R.L. Stine RL 4.4  P 5  This story begins with girls calling
guys from school.  Then things get worse!  It was a wonderful book!  Alicia

The Year My Parents Ruined My Life by Martha Freeman  RL 4.3  P  5.0  When
Kate is taken from her home in California to Pennsylvania, things turn
up-side down.  I loved this book.  It was exciting, funny, and a big
adventrue.  Madison Cronk    Kate has to leave California because of her
dad's job.  She has to leave her boyfriend and friends.  It is a very good
book!  I especially like books about people's lives.  Baley Poncy
